God's Love Builds Bridges

Bridging the Gap Through God’s Love

Do you realize that God is in the business of reconciliation?

A sweet couple named Sunny and Roshna were trained in Evangelism Explosion after coming to know the Lord. After graduating from their EE classes, they immediately began sharing the Gospel. Having been converted to Jesus from their former religion, do you know where they started sharing the Gospel? At their former place of worship.

Roshna shared that you could hear a pin drop as they told the story they had developed and practiced through their EE training. The name of Jesus was being preached in love in a place where His name had never been spoken before. If that’s not bridging the gap, it’s hard to imagine what is.

Jesus’ love bridges the gap between our sinfulness and God’s righteousness. Aren’t you grateful that through Him we can have eternal life because He made a way for us? Throughout Scripture, we see story after story where Jesus urges us to reconcile sinners to God.

Biblical Love That Reconciles

In the Parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus tells the story of a Jewish man who was badly injured and helped by someone completely unexpected. In the story of the Prodigal Son, Jesus describes a strained relationship between a loving father and his wayward son. Yet in the end, the father welcomes his son home with open arms.

These stories reveal the heart of our Heavenly Father. His love bridges the gap between the lost and His grace.

Romans 5:10 reminds us:

“For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!”

Not only have we been reconciled to God, but we are invited to walk with Him and partner with Him in leading others toward love and righteousness.

We Are Called to Bridge the Gap Too

The Father loved you so much that He sent His one and only Son from Heaven to earth so that you could be reconciled to Him. He came to us. He closed a gap that we could never close on our own.

So what can we do to bridge the gap?

Do you have loved ones who are far from God? Where were you in life when Jesus knocked on your heart’s door? Do you know someone who may be in that same place today?

Ask God to give you opportunities to share the Gospel of reconciliation and love.

This week, pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance on how you can bridge the gap for Jesus. It may look as simple as bringing up a spiritual topic in conversation or paying for someone’s coffee on a cold morning. Small acts of love can open the door to powerful Gospel conversations.
