Prayer During the Holidays
WHAT’S YOUR PRIORITY?
When life gets busy, what becomes your number one priority? While it could be a multitude of things, let me encourage you to make prayer your priority. November certainly seems to speed up time, between holiday gatherings and year-end deadlines. There are a million things on the to-do list and pressure coming from everyone, it seems. But, let’s remember to stop and take time to intentionally pray.
GROWING IN THE FAITH
One of our key means to growth in the Christian faith is prayer. Prayer is a great privilege that we all too often forget about until we need something immediate. Prayer is not just for presenting requests, but to tell God how good He is and how thankful we are for who He is and what He does.
Take time, especially this month, to pray prayers of gratitude. God already knows what we need before we need it, and He will take care of you. But, let your first point on your prayer agenda be thanking our wonderful God.
WHO WILL YOU PRAY FOR?
Look ahead to the holiday gatherings you will be a part of—who will you spend time with? If there is someone who the Lord has laid on your heart, pray fervently for them! Trust that God has been seeking them out, join Him in prayer, and then in conversation! If you pray for opportunities to share the love of Christ, He will certainly give them to you.
MAKE IT A POINT TO PRAY
This week, ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance regarding who you can be praying for. Then, make it a point to pray daily for them. You can even reach out and ask for prayer requests—these chats can often turn quickly to Gospel conversations. Your dedication to pray for those around you can change someone’s life!
May God richly bless you as you pray for your loved ones and the lost with a grateful heart, knowing you are part of God’s rescue team.
