Are You Eternally-Minded?
LEAVE THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE
If there is a “path of least resistance,” there must be a “path of most resistance.” When you and I received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we joined with those on the “path of most resistance.” We joined Moses, Joshua, Jeremiah, Paul, John…and a host of others throughout the ages who have traveled this path in faith—and did so through being eternally-minded.
Of course, the Leader on this “path of most resistance” is none other than Jesus. He taught us—even warned us—that it would be this way for those who live in this fallen world. Yet too often, we Christians resist the notion of being active, verbal witnesses for Jesus.
So, this challenge is before us. It is the call to leave the “path of least resistance,” where silence is acceptable, and begin speaking up for Christ – focusing on the cross and the payment made by Jesus, so that our sins can be forgiven.
BE ETERNALLY MINDED
We need to be talking about being eternally-minded—keeping our focus on things that really matter, even in the midst of trial.
One of my favorite passages deals with this very topic—It’s 2 Corinthians 4 & 5. Chapter 4 deals with us being of strong heart as we share Christ, and chapter 5 encourages us to faithfully conduct ourselves as God’s ambassadors here on earth. At the end of chapter 4, we’re reminded that we will have struggles here on earth, but don’t worry. Even the struggles have their purpose, as we look not at the things that can be seen, but at the things that cannot be seen. Isn’t that interesting? We’re to look at the things that cannot be seen!
You see, the things that can be seen are just temporary, but the things that cannot be seen are eternal.
BE RECONCILED
It is easy to allow anxiety to creep into our lives as we look at the events of the world today. It is obvious now, more than ever, that the world needs the peace of Jesus Christ. Do you have that peace? Well, we know that faith in Christ as our Savior is paramount, and reconciliation also plays a part in our spiritual walk. I don’t know about you, but I’d like to be known as one who is eternally-minded, conducting myself as God’s ambassador, making this appeal. Be reconciled to God! That’s what we do when we witness, and the joy and peace of Christ will dwell in us as we are obedient to Him. CIRCLES TO REACH
In Evangelism Explosion we often refer to what we call our “Circles to Reach”. These “circles” consist of people in our families, workplaces, and neighborhoods, and our influence within these circles can have a powerful impact on spiritual lives. Is there someone the Holy Spirit is leading you to share the Gospel of Christ with? I challenge you to PRAY and SHARE. Be open to His leading, and connect to those in your “circle”…you just may change someone’s life for eternity!
